Swiss PVD coating machine applies innovative High Density Pulsed Plasma (HDPP) and Arc Splitting Technique (AST) to their coating systems to generate high density plasma, with reduced droplet size and density. The super hard coatings thus produced have smoother surface, denser structure, and higher toughness, which results to superior wear performance. Their coating units are designed for industrial manufacturing use. It has a large chamber that can install 6 targets that can be used in different combinations to produce advanced coating structure, such as nanostructure, multilayer and nano-composite coatings can all be realized. Because of the use of AST, the arc current sustained by each target is 3-4 times higher than the conventional arc. With that many targets, and each with high arc power, very high deposition rates can be achieved, hence substantially shorten the deposition time. For typical coatings:

Coating thickness can achieve 8-12μm . Flexibility is provided to the arc operation and control, each target current can be separately adjusted to suit the need. Highly efficient vacuum pump is adopted for 5 min pump down time, whereas typical system takes about 15- 20min. It also has good capability in both high and low temperature processes. Maximum process temperature is 600℃, and a minimum of 180℃ for low temperature process. The carousel and work chucks are of segmentable design, and are numerically controlled, which allows static or multi-axial rotational modes. This allows greater flexibility to parts mix in the same batch to further improve productivity. System also comes with advanced software, which provides system status and quick diagnostics. The control and monitoring system uses industrial grade PC and PLC. The acquired process and system data is backed up by mirror hard drive for protection.
